Timatanga o te kura

Although Te Kura Kaupapa Mãori o Te Atihaunui a Paparangi had already been established in Whanganui, the location revealed over time indicated the need for another Kura Mãori. Therefore, Te Kura Mãori o Tupoho was created. Under the guidance of the korowai and philosophy of Te Aho Matua, Te Kura Kaupapa Mãori o Tupoho was awakened.

Situated at 18 Cross Street, at the mouth of the Whanganui River, the establishment is positioned on a gentle rise, offering a picturesque view of the river mouth while capturing the distant sounds of Tangaroa. Our kura motto, “He Raupä He Tunga, He Iwi Tohu Whakauaua,” unites us with our new beginnings. As we journey through our history towards our destiny, we recognize that hard work and determination are essential for our success.

Ngã Mãtapono o te kura, Ko Te Wananga, Ko Te Oranga, Ko Te Ihi, Te Wehi, Te Mana, Te Ihowai is our commitment to our students and whanau to produce a Tupoho Iwi graduate who can confidently face the future, regardless of the challenges that arise.

This analysis of 2023 serves as a guide for our next steps in 2024. The staff input included in this report underscores their dedication to establishing innovative and robust programs and engaging with tauira whanau. Our ultimate goal is to adopt a collaborative approach to the education of our tauira. Recovery from Covid is an ongoing issue.

We maintain relationships with other kura both locally and nationally, as well as with the following groups: Te Kähui (Taranaki), Ngã Kura a Iwi, Ngã Kura Mãori o Whanganui, and Te Runanga o Ngà Kura Kaupapa Mãori. These relationships strengthen our kura’s focus on our future goals
